Bank Holiday Fun Day

We’ve had a great day today, partnering with St Stephen’s Church, to put on a Fun Day on one of our local council estates. The weather was atrocious, which meant that the event had to be held indoors rather than outside, and so some of the things that we had planned to do had to be curtailed. But we had a bouncy castle, some video games, a variety of stalls, and our local community radio provided the music for the occasion.

The day was put on as part of our response to Hope 08, and we had a reasonably good turn out considering the weather. It was great to be able to put a smile on people’s faces – and I am so grateful to the folk from the churches who turned up so early and stayed so long to make the occasion possible. Here were two churches saying to the community, ‘We are here for you!’.

(And I forgot to say, a big thank you to our own folk who turned out in the atrocious weather, to help with the event, fully thinking that they would still be outside despite the weather. You are all stars!)
